Long floppy ears and lots of pretty colors - that was the request I got from my niece. Well how could I say no to that face? I whipped up one for her and another for her sister (who did not want to sit still enough for a picture!), and start to finish each crochet bunny hat took less than an hour. I left them plain, but you can embellish them with little noses and such if you like - it's a great base pattern for anything you can imagine!

- US - L, 8.00mm hook
- 95 - 120 yds Bernat Baby Blanket (Super Bulky)
Color A 65 - 90 yds; Color B 30 yds - Sizes available include Toddler and Small Child. The sizes are the same for Rounds 1 - 4, and after that the instructions are listed separately.

Starting Hat Instructions:
Round 1:With Color A, make a magic circle, ch 1, and work 9 hdc into the ring.Join with a sl st to first hdc. (9 sts)
Round 2: Ch 1, 2 hdc in each st around. Join with a sl st to first hdc. (18 sts)
Round 3: Ch 1, hdc in the 1st st, 2 hdc in the next st. *Hdc in the next st, 2 hdc in the next st. Repeat from * to end. Join with a sl st to first hdc. (27 sts)
Round 4: Ch 1, hdc in the first 2 sts, 2 hdc in the next st. *Hdc in the next 2 sts, 2 hdc in the next st. Repeat from * to end. Join with a sl st to first hdc. (36 sts) Continue with instructions for desired size below.
For TODDLER SIZE:
Round 5 - 9: Ch 1, hdc in each st around. Join with a sl st to first hdc. (36 sts)
Round 10: Ch 1, hdc in each st around. Join with seamless join and weave in ends. (36 sts)
For SMALL CHILD SIZE:
Round 5: Ch 1, hdc in the first 3 sts, 2 hdc in the next st. *Hdc in the next 3 sts, 2 hdc in the next st. Repeat from * to end. Join with a sl st to first hdc. (45 sts)
Round 6 - 11: Ch 1, hdc in each st around. Join with a sl st to first hdc. (45 sts)
Round 12: Ch 1, hdc in each st around. Join with seamless join and weave in ends. (45 sts)
Ears Instructions (make 2):
Row 1: Using Color B, ch 5. Skip the ch closest to the hook and sc in the next 4 ch. Turn. (4 sts)
Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each st across. Turn. (4 sts)
Row 3: Ch 1, 2 sc in the first st, sc in the next 2 sts, 2 sc in the last st. Turn. (6 sts)
Row 4 - 10: Ch 1, sc in each st across. Turn. (6 sts)
Row 11: Ch 1, sc in the first 2 sts, sc2tog, sc in the last 2 sts. Turn. (5 sts)
Row 12: Ch 1, sc in each st across. Turn. (5 sts)
Row 13: Ch 1, sc in the first 2 sts, sc2tog, sc in the last st. Turn. (4 sts)
Row 14: Ch 1, sc in each st across. Turn. (4 sts)
Row 15: Ch 1, sc in the first st, sc2tog, sc in the last st. (3 sts) Break yarn.
Edging and Assembly: With Color A, sc evenly around outer edge of ear, then break yarn, leaving long tail to sew on. Sew to ear as desired.
And as fast as a hare, you've got a crochet bunny hat! These super speedy hats are soft and cushy and a big hit with the little ones. If you don't have super bulky yarn, try holding 2 strands of a heavier worsted together. I hope your little people enjoy their hats as much as my nieces do!
