Is there any way to copy and paste entries between two different KeePass databases? If not, could a plugin be created that provides this functionality? I noticed that there are several entries in the blog extending back to at least 2006 that have requested this feature.

      Namasté!

I was trying to use the keyboard shortcuts without success. That's just what I needed.

Copy and paste entries between two different KeePass databases.

I´m using version 1.27, I don´t see the Clipboard when I right click an entry.

        Has something changed?

        Have a great day

This is a feature of KeePass V2, not V1. You will have to export and import.

          cheers, Paul

I don't know about the security of copy&paste, but at its current state KeePass usability is quite bad:
I tried selecting multiple entries and then export them to a .kdbx file. That worked, but no password was asked for the new .kdbx file, so I could not open it (tried some obvious passwords, but none of them worked). After that I tried export to am XML file: ALL entries (not just the selected ones) were exported! I even searched the help file for "copy", but found no matches regarding to copying entries. Even after knowing the solution, I searched for "clipboard", but could not find a match.
Even when two tabs are open, you cannot drag&drop entries to the other tab...
I'm also missing hte corresponding actions (copy&paste entry) in the "Edit" menu.

The option to copy & paste selected entries is a little bit buried. To copy and paste entries, right click on the selected entries and select 'Clipboard>Copy Entries'. To paste repeat and select 'Clipboard>Paste Entries'

Exporting to KDBX uses the same password as the database you are exporting from.
If you want a different password on your export vote for this feature request.

                      Some notes about this feature.
The clipboard submenu is available when right-clicking the entries area. It's not available when right-clicking a group in the tree view on the left. I think Clipboard>Paste would completely make sense to be available in there.
Another tricky thing is that you have to do copy&paste fast, as keepass auto-clears the clipboard some 10 seconds after copying.
Most useful tip I can give is - there are hotkeys for copy&paste an entry - Ctrl+Shift+C & Ctrl+Shift+V respectively.

Has this ability been removed from KeePass? The version on my computer is 2.43, and there does not appear to be an option to copy entries to the clipboard. If this feature has been removed on purpose, is there a workaround for copying specific entries from one database to another?

Menu 'Entry' → 'Data Exchange' → 'Copy Entry' and 'Paste Entry'.

                          Best regards,
                          Dominik

                            Hi Dominik,

It would be intuitive to put both options also in the context menu. I think the majority of users would expect them there.

                            Jack Konings:
I had to look up what a context menu (right-click menu) was.

I think that should be reserved for frequently-used things. I have only done that once. Is that something that you do frequently?

There is also Group-> Export Group. Would you want that to be in the context menu (right-click menu) also?

                              Hi Rethread,

Ultimaltly its up to the developer what he puts in a context menu.

Around V2.43 of KP the "entry copy-paste" option resided in the context menu. As Dominik restructered the menus this option is now exiled to the menu bar.

For me the contaxt menu is a very handy and logical place for this option (like file copy-paste in the Windows Explorer) . Also it saves a button click in respect to the menu bar.
