CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - 19 First Alert Meteorologist Jeff Tanchak is traveling to Alaska, and along for the adventure are some 19 News viewers.
During the nearly two-week-long tour, Jeff will take to the skies, hit the water and even travel by train.
There are stops in several cities, including Anchorage and Fairbanks, as well as a visit to North America’s tallest peak.
For those of us not on vacation, there’s a chance to live vicariously through Jeff as he provides video blog updates.
You’ll also find a photo gallery featuring pictures from Jeff and other travelers joining him on the trip.

Disembark day in Vancouver Canada. We then took a bus to Seattle where we spend tonight. We fly back home tomorrow. Go Browns!
SEPT. 8 - TRIP DAY 11
Out at sea today. We enjoy one more day on the ship. Tomorrow morning we disembark in Vancouver.

Port of call in Ketchikan today, the Salmon Fishing Capital of the world. Big tourist town. It is the third wettest city in the country. Yup…it’s raining.

The historic White Pass and Yukon Route follows the path of the Klondike gold seekers.
SEPT. 4 - TRIP DAY 7
11 hours of travel today. Stopped at the visitor center in the Yukon. We are pretty tired. Heading to the hotel then a big day tomorrow.
Early wake up call as we travel into Canada. Destination is Whitehorse in the Yukon.

We are in the southeast part of Alaska for the night. Tomorrow we go into Canada.

Nice to settle into our next hotel in Fairbanks after a long day. Enjoyed a salmon bake for dinner. Getting ready for another adventure tomorrow.
SEPT. 1 - TRIP DAY 4
Deeper into the park. The colors are amazing. I know it is warm in Cleveland, but here fall has really set in. We did see a bear, moose, caribou, and Dall sheep.
We are taking a tour of the 4th largest national park in the country. One of the largest unspoiled regions of the world. Check it out.
AUG. 31 - TRIP DAY 3
Six million acres. It’s the 4th largest national park in the country. Beautiful here.
Introducing Riley Dyche. He races in the Iditarod. He finished top 20 last year. He uses the tourists to train his dogs for the race. This is a fun ride. Hanging with Alan from Mentor. By the way…we are getting the remnants of a tropical storm here in Alaska. Rain today with a high of 54 degrees.
We are in Wasilla, north of Anchorage. Learned a lot about the Iditarod race. This happens in early March from Anchorage to Nome. 1,049 miles long. 14 to 16 Alaskan Huskies.
AUG. 30 - TRIP DAY 2
We took a tram up to 3950 feet. This is at Alyeska Resort southeast of Anchorage. Amazing views. My buddy John from Wisconsin can concur.
17 species of animals here at the center. They rescue animals here. Over 100 acres of land for the animals to thrive.
This is a scenic highway to take in the amazing views of Alaska. Check out this rest stop. Here with Alan and Kathy. A mother and son duo from Mentor.
AUG. 29 - TRAVEL DAY 1
After 7 hours of flying, happy to be here. We are in Anchorage for 2 nights. The weather is chilly and damp. Big day tomorrow.
Made to Chicago. About to board to Alaska. Why do Alaskans like to fish? For the Halibut. Haha
August 29th at Hopkins Airport waiting to board flight to Chicago then we go to Anchorage, Alaska. We will be there at 7:30 p.m. That will be 11:30 p.m. Cleveland time. It is a 4 hour time change. Very excited to be hosting this trip with our viewers. Thank you Holiday Vacations. Check back often as I will be documenting our journey. We are doing a 13 day Alaska and glacier cruise. We are staying at 7 different hotels, including the cruise ship. I’ll miss doing the weather on 19 News This Morning. See you in Alaska. I hope there is a good movie on this flight.
