If you have young children, these are probably already a fridge staple, but if not—that’s okay! No need to rush to the store to buy them; just substitute any cheese you have in your fridge. Grated mozzarella works great but you can even use cheddar, colby… really any cheese your heart desires!

These string cheese stuffed crescent rolls require a different rolling technique than your average, run-of-the-mill crescent rolls. To keep all of that ooey-gooey, cheesy, stringy, tasty goodness inside the roll, you'll want to fold the dough just as you normally would, then carefully tuck in each little crescent tip! Yep, that’s it!

After you fold your rolls, skip the parchment paper and line your baking sheet with one of these silicone baking mats to prevent sticking. Bonus—these make cleaning up a breeze!

FREEZING YOUR STUFFED ROLLS

Made more than you can eat? Throw those rolls in a freezer ziplock bag, press out all the air and they are freezer ready! Don't have ziplock bags? Popping them in a freezer safe container with a lid also works! Mark the date with a sharpie and you’re all set.

When you’re ready to eat, thaw in the fridge or microwave then reheat in the microwave or oven until the rolls are warm and the cheese is melted. Gobble these stuffed crescent rolls up within a month to keep them tasting their very best! Somehow we don’t see them lasting that long, though!

Ingredients

  • 2 cans crescent rolls
  • 8 pieces string cheese
  • 4 Tbsp butter
  • 4 cloves minced garlic
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp minced fresh parsley
  • 1 tsp minced fresh basil

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with silicone mat or parchment paper and set aside.

  • In a small bowl, combine melted butter with Italian seasoning, garlic, parsley and basil.

  • Unroll crescent rolls and separate into triangles. Brush with garlic butter mixture, reserving some to brush on tops of assembled rolls. Place halved string cheese at widest end, and roll up (tucking in the edges to seal).

  • Brush tops with more garlic butter.

  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until lightly browned.

Notes

These leftovers are really good! Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week or in the freezer for at least 6 months. If frozen, thaw in the fridge overnight. To reheat, either reheat in the microwave for a softer roll or in the oven at 350°F for about 10 minutes or until the roll is heated all the way through.
