The mentoring scheme connects law students with alumni, who volunteer their time to give insights and advice about the law profession and enrich their studies and professional development. Over the next seven days we will be celebrating #VolunteersWeek 2024.We are marking 200 years of #McrMet in 2024, and so we begin with a special short film made this year, which celebrates the impact and difference made by alumni volunteers – over 2,000 have now given their time to support our students. For #FlashbackFriday we focus on the John Dalton College of Technology back in 1965. This rear-view image was taken before the completion of the Mancunian Way. Today, our brand-new state-of-the-art Dalton Building is getting the final finishing touches added, before becoming the new home for the Faculty of Science and Engineering.

She kindly shares how her experience at Manchester Met has given her the reassurance she needed as first in her family to attend university.The First Generation Scholarship Programme supports young people from the North West, whose parents or guardians did not go to university.Scholars receive ongoing financial, pastoral and extracurricular support from pre-entry, including help with applying and preparing for university.
