Best Sturdy Yarn For A Crochet Bag

A crochet shell stitch is an advanced beginner technique. The stitches themselves are simple, it’s the placement of the crochet stitches that you have to be mindful of. By adding chain sections to the shell stitch base you can create this wonderful crochet lace used on this Free Pattern for a Crochet Lace Tunic!

Are Crochet Bags Trendy?

YES! Crochet bags are definitely trendy! However, I have noticed that crochet bags keep trending every year and I have (personally) decided that crochet is always on trend and it is more in the way of how we use it. Big, bold and bright or delicate, neutral and classic. It is all in the yarns we choose and how we wear it each year, as an accessory or the main outfit!

Finishing Details

  1. Using the Decorative Stitches above with contrasting colors (Surface Slip Stitch, Running Stitch, Diagonal Wrap Stitch and Cross Stitch) add some details of your choosing.

Assembly

  1. With Right Sides facing, seam your sides and bottom together.
  2. Seam your straps together on each individual side, do not cross them, and make sure they are not twisted.
  3. Once seamed together, turn your bag right side out.
  4. Using a single crochet stitch, evenly sc around the bag and strap openings placing 1 sc in each sc and row end. When you work over the Extension Stitches and Short Rows in the straps use a sc2tog to bring the end of the row into the next row.
  5. Finish off and weave in your ends.
  6. To make the straps more sturdy, use a Surface Sl St on each strap from the base of the strap on one side and over to the next.
