How to Play and Tips

Swap Between Firing Modes When Necessary

Torbjörn's Rivet Gun works well at close-range and long-range engagements due to its different firing modes. Rivet Gun's primary fire does not decrease in damage over long distances, making it effective at harassing and taking down foes from far away. Rivet Gun's secondary fire excels in fighting enemies up close due to its inaccurate but devastating spread of molten shards.

Use Overload Ability When Pushing

Torbjörn's Overload provides him with temporary health and improved attack, movement, and reload speed. Use this ability when making aggressive plays on the enemy team or as an escape tool in emergency situations.

Deploy Turrets in Choke Points

Deploy Turret tosses and builds a turret emplacement that automatically tracks and shoots down enemy targets. Place this ability on vantage points around choke points and crucial objectives to efficiently fend off advancing foes.

Spread Out Molten Core's Pools

Torbjörn's Molten Core creates large pools of slag that quickly wears down enemies and their armor. Spread this ability out around entryways, control points, or even on top of the enemy team to maximize its damage output.

How to Counter

Use Long Range Attacks

Torbjörn is a hero with an auto-aiming turret that can deal massive damage when placed correctly. For the most part, the standard practice when dealing with Torbjörn should be to destroy his turret whenever he places it.

Pharah with her long-range and high firepower can destroy turrets with ease. This goes the same way for Sojourn, as players can her railgun can instantly destroy the turret.

Reinhardt can mitigate most of the damage using his shield while Zarya can take advantage of its auto-aim to keep her energy levels high.

Weapon and Bot Creation Expert

Many of the powerful weapons of Overwatch can be attributed to Torbjörn, who had a reputation for creating weapons even before the Omnic Crisis began. Originally his creations were intended for peaceful purposes such as city construction and defense. These were repurposed by ill-intending forces and Omnics during the Omnic Crisis.

The Omnic Crisis

He was a pillar for Overwatch, providing the weapons, as well as the intel necessary to fight the Omnics during the crisis. It is probable that without Torbjörn's input, Overwatch could not have succeeded. On the otherhand, without his creations existing in the first place, the entire Omnic Crisis may have been averted.

Present Day

When Overwatch fell, many of his works were taken by those would do harm to the world. Torbjörn feels deep responsibility for what happened with his inventions during the Omnic Crisis and a deep resentment towards those who twisted them. He has since made it his mission to keep his weapons and Omnics from going to the wrong hands.
