Why My Crockpot Pork Chops Are the Best Slow Cooker Pork Recipe Ever

Crockpot pork chops are one of the best pork chop recipes, in my opinion. Slow cooker pork chops turn out moist and tender. Often baked pork chops turn out dry and fried pork chops sometimes are too tough. Another reason I like pork slow cooker recipes is that they are so easy to make. Just throw in some pork chops in a crock pot, add some vegetables or gravy to the mix. Then walk away until it's done.

This is one of my favorite crockpot pork chops recipes. My husband says it's the best slow cooker pork recipe ever. He may be right! I know it's definitely one of the most delicious pork slow cooker recipes in my collection.

Another reason to love these pork chops in the crock pot is for the simple ingredients used. If you have bought pork chops, you probably already have everything in your kitchen that you need to make these crockpot pork chops.

Which is better- the crockpot pork chops with beef bouillon or chicken bouillon? Well, it depends on whom you ask. I prefer the chicken bouillon flavor, and my husband likes the beef flavored crock pot pork chops recipe better. They're both delicious!

How to Make the Best Slow Cooker Pork Recipe

Place the chicken bouillon cubes into 2 cups of very hot water.

Put the flour, salt, peper, and garlic salt into a plastic baggie. Shake it around to mix. Then add the pork chops to the sealed plastic bag and shake again. Shake until the pork chops are well coated with the flour mix.

Optional step: Brown the pork chops on the stove in a bit of oil.
Second optional step: Brown the garlic and onions with the pork chops.

(Note: I don't brown the pork chops first. I just throw them into the crockpot. It doesn't affect the flavor, tenderness, or moistness of the finished crockpot pork chops at all. But many people prefer browning meats first before placing them in a slow cooker, mostly for appearance. Also, browning the onions and garlic first will result in a sweeter, milder flavor than just throwing them into the crock pot raw. I personally prefer this. But if I'm short on time, I just throw the sliced onion and chopped garlic into the crockpot and turn the slow cooker on. It's still delicious.)

Put the pork chops in a crock pot, then the onions and garlic. Add the 2 cups of hot water that contain the dissolved bouillon cubes, or add broth if you're using it instead.

Cook the pork chops in the crock pot for about 6 hours on low. Low setting is recommended for this slow cooker pork recipe so that the meat doesn't get dried out.

Now mix the 1 1/2 tablespoons of cornstarch in with the sour cream. (Or you can use 3 tablespoons of flour mixed with the sour cream. But cornstarch will produce better results.) Add this into the slow cooker. Stir, being careful not to disturb the pork chops as they will be very tender. If you like mushrooms, add these to the slow cooker now as well. Turn the crock pot on high for about half an hour to thicken the sauce.

Additional Ways to Prepare These Crock Pot Pork Chops

Optional ways to prepare this crock pot pork chops recipe:

Prepare everything pretty much the same. After coating the pork chops with flour and spices, brown the pork chops, garlic and onions. Then add everything else except the sour cream and cornstarch. Cook covered on a low heat for about 35-45 minutes. Add the cornstarch and sour cream during the last 15 minutes.

OR

Brown the dredged pork chops with the garlic and onions. Transfer everything but the sour cream and cornstarch to a ovenproof baking dish. Bake tightly covered in a preheated oven for about an hour. Add the sour cream and cornstarch during the last twenty minutes or so.

Don't have pork chops in the house? Don't want to rush out to the grocery store? Then try this slow cooker pork recipe using boneless, skinless chicken breasts instead. Also yummy!

If you're watching your salt intake, skip the bouillon cubes listed for these crockpot pork chops. Instead, use a low sodium chicken broth, or even better, make your own.

Serve the crock pot pork chops covered with the delicious sour cream chicken (or beef) flavored gravy.

Added hint: Use the gravy from the crock pot pork chops with noodles, mashed potatoes, or rice.
